She is an accomplished designer, classical dancer, yoga practitioner & now an Author. After completing her B.Sc. degree from Purdue University, a Marketing Program from the Wharton Business School, she also did an Entrepreneurship Program from Harvard University. Her passion & adventurism led her to being a certified skydiver, study Iaido - Tibetan meditation & writing in calligraphy with a sword, all her influences had a spiritual aura to it.
Barkha ‘n’ Sonzal’, is a fashion label which she started along with her sister, with their designs being the first brand ever to represent India for the prestigious ‘International Woolmark award’ in menswear. ‘Christies, New York', selected her at a young age for a furniture design research programme course, instead she opted out to dance in Kerala & work on the local crafts & is also a kalaripaiyatt artist from CVN Kalari. Belonging to a family of musical legends, she has featured in Confluence 2, with her hubby santoor maestro
Rahul Sharma.
She has trained in instrumental music & also learnt the tanpura from her father-in-law, the legendary musician Pt. Shivkumar Sharma & accompanies her family on stage all over the world for select concerts.
"Yug O' Vision", a Yoga anthem, was launched on Yoga International Day in 2018, featuring Barkha as a classical danseuse performing yoga & the album was presented to the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji. Since childhood, Barkha learnt yoga from various yogic schools of thoughts & has been a student of Yoga with the Yoga Institute Santacruz, Mumbai. Barkha resides with her husband & their seven-year-old son in Mumbai, India.
